30 air passengers fined in one day for excess dutiable items

Mumbai: Airport Intelligence Unit (AIU) of the Customs has fined about 30 people at the airport in one day for carrying dutiable goods above the permissible limit.
"Normally during Diwali our sleuths keep extra vigil at the airport and yesterday we fined about 30 people for carrying excess dutiable goods," said a Customs source today.
Majority of these passengers had electronic goods with them.
"Majority of them were carrying electronic goods," confirmed Additional Commissioner (AIU) Mahendra Pal.
