IGI lucky draw surprises flyers with F1 landing

New Delhi: Eighteen passengers found themselves with a season's pass when they participated in Delhi International Airport Pvt Ltd's lucky draw. Several celebrities have been arriving at the airport for the race. On Sunday, Shahrukh Khan will be arriving in a private jet for the grand finale of the maiden edition of the grand prix. Recently, Sahara Force India driver Adrian Sutil had surprised passengers at T3 when he stopped for a test-ride in the F1 simulator at the terminal. Airport sources said unscheduled aircraft movement had gone up by 30-40% in the last couple of days.
"During Commonwealth Games, we were informed about the aircraft that brought in people related to the Games. This time, however, we have no such prior information. On Friday, there were 83 unscheduled movements, while on Saturday, till 7:30pm, there were 40 unscheduled movements. The number is expected to be higher on Sunday," an aviation source said.
The airport has also seen a massive increase in the arrival of cargo. Over the past three days, IGI Airport handled 500 metric tonnes of cargo, including car spare parts and other equipment.
