Pune airport braces for swanky look AAI to spend Rs 20 cr

Pune: The Airports Authority of India plans to invest nearly Rs 20 crore over the next 12 months for various expansion projects at the Lohegaon airport.
The projects include a swanky administrative complex, construction of new hangars for non-scheduled small aircraft owned by private companies operating from the city, and setting up a canopy on the city side of the airport terminal building.
Lohegaon airport director P S R K Sudhakar told TOI, "We expect the work on these projects to commence by the end of this year. Tenders for these projects will be out next month."
He said, the proposed administrative block will be a ground-plus-two structure located near the entrance of the airport terminal building. As of now, the AAI offices as well as that of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), which is responsible for airport security, are located on the first floor inside the main terminal building.
