Tiruchirappalli airport director told to issue passes

Madurai: Madras High Court bench has directed the Tiruchirappalli Airport director to issue/renew passes and orders to ensure Balika Air Services continues as Ground handling agent of airlines concerned, pending disposal of the writ petition. Justice R Sudhakar issued the interim order admitting the petition filed by BAS. Petitioner N Sriram, BAS partner, submitted they had entered into an agreement with Sri Lankan Airlines, Jet Airways, Mihinlanka and Kingfisher airlines for handling licences, which was due to expire by September 30 and October 25. Chairperson of Airports Authority of India had also granted security pemission which expired on March 24, 2011 for Jet Airways, Sept 30 for Sri Lankan Airlines, Mihinlanka on Dec 30 2011 and Kingfisher on March 31, 2016.
