Stir hits passengers at Kochi Airport

Nedumbassery: The workers of ground support department, baggage reconciliation security and traffic of Air India Charters Limited serving at the Kochi International Airport have demonstrated a three-hour protest on Friday condemning the Air India management which hesitated to renew the work contract of 12 persons who had been working under the AICL for several years.
The passengers destined for various locations from Kochi suffered badly as the baggage movement was delayed owing to the strike. The flights were delayed subsequently. The protest began at 6 am. The recent refusal to renew the contract of AICL workers was a part of the hidden agenda to wind up their service, it is alleged.
The Air India airport manager Dibesh and the top management of AI negotiated with the agitating staff and sorted out the issue at 8.15 am.
