Ahead of Xmas season, flights to Shimla halved

Shimla: Unmindful of the Christmas-New Year festive season ahead, the financially troubled Kingfisher Airlines - the only airline operating on the Delhi-Shimla route for last four years - has decided to reduce the number of flights to Shimla and Kullu-Manali.
''From a daily flight to Shimla and Kullu-Manali the airline is running only three in a week, on Monday, Wednesday and Friday,'' said Deepak Sood, involved in air ticketing operations for various airlines.
Due to a short table top landing strip, the incoming flights carry a maximum passenger load of about 45 persons and outgoing ones are only able to take off with a passenger load of 24 persons.
