Govt working on a new system for civil aviation industry

New Delhi: The government today said it may introduce a Bill in Parliament to improve the functioning of the civil aviation sector. The UN's International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) has made a recommendation to "look at the whole functioning of the DGCA and the civil aviation industry as a whole", Civil Aviation Minister Vayalar Ravi said during the Question Hour in Rajya Sabha. "In this connection, we are also trying to formulate and introduce a Bill. The discussion is on to create a new system so as to make the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) a part of that," he said replying to a supplementary question if the Ministry was proposing to set up Civil Aviation Investigation Bureau.
