Israeli national booked for carrying bullets moves court

Mumbai: Israeli national Nurit Toker, booked by the Mumbai police for allegedly carrying two live cartridges in her backpack while travelling from Mumbai to Kathmandu, has moved the Bombay High Court, stating that she had recently completed her compulsory training in the Israeli army and the cartridges were her personal ammunition.
Toker has urged the court to quash the FIR filed against her by the Sahar police under Sections of the Arms Act, 1959.
Her counsel Haresh Jagtiani and Niteen Pradhan told the court that Toker, 22, who completed her three-year training on October 10, had come to India for a holiday. Toker stated in her petition that the cartridges compatible with her M-16 assault rifle was acquired during her military training. She had, however, not carried the rifle.
Jagtiani also told the court that no objection was raised against the cartridges when she flew out of Israel on October 26 or when she landed in Mumbai a day later.
