Mumbai airport witnesses 2 'undervalue' cases in 5 days

Mumbai: Two cases of flyers undervaluing their goods at the Mumbai airport have been reported in the past five days.
The first case was reported on Monday, when the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) seized diamonds worth Rs 5.07 crore, which the importer declared to be worth Rs 3.54 crore. In another case on Wednesday, a city-based tradesman was arrested when air-cargo Customs officials discovered he had been undervaluing imported consignments of big machine blades for the past two years. By declaring a lesser value of the goods, he reportedly dodged paying a duty by more than Rs 1 crore.
