Ludhiana: The Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has finally approached the Airport Authority of India (AAI) to either shift or underground high tension lines at Sahnewal airport. The 66KV high tension wires have been the final obstruction in the installation of navigational device, DVOR.
The power department had already undergrounded 11KV lines but airport authorities had showed concern over 66KV high tension lines also hampering the DVOR's smooth functioning.
In the proposal sent to AAI, the power department has given two options to the airport authorities and asked for their preference. The first is that it would underground the lines at an expenditure of Rs 1.5 crore and the alternative option is for the high tension lines to be shifted to some other place. Officers at Sahnewal airport forwarded the proposal to their Delhi headquarters where a final decision would be taken.
