Lucknow: The two-year wait for the new terminal at Amausi airport may finally be over. After much delay, the swanky extension of the international airport is likely to be fully operational after a month. The trial run, however, could, start by next week.
Lucknow airport director, Atul Dikshit, "Once a trial run is done, we may get the terminal complete within a month or so." Authorities are wary of the cost escalation of the terminal, which is proposed to come up at a cost of Rs 80 crore. Delay after delay may have raised the cost significantly. "But that may be accounted only after the terminal is complete," said a senior AAI official. He added that if the delay is because of the contractor ( Brahmaputra Constructions), it will have to bear the burden.
"Our prime objective is to get the terminal ready as soon as possible," said an engineer at the site.
The site itself reveals the actual picture. While the building has largely come up, the finishing work awaits completion. Most of the counters have been put in place, the chambers constructed, the AC towers and escalators installed.
