2 courier co employees arrested for stealing consignment

Mumbai: Two employees of different courier companies have been arrested for allegedly stealing a consignment, which consisted 6.8 kg gold and diamond valuables worth Rs 1.44 crore from Chhatrapati Shivaji domestic airport's cargo warehouse in suburban Santacruz, police said today. Acting on a tip-off that the accused, who had stolen the valuables, would be going to sell them near Madhuban Hotel at Vile Parle yesterday, police laid a trap and nabbed the two identified as Santosh Kadam (33) and Ravi Satham (40), Crime Branch officials said. According to police, the consignment was brought to Mumbai from Hyderabad on an Air India flight on the night of December 21. But it was not found in the special cargo warehouse, where usually high-valued parcels are stored, when the receiver, Gorakhram Rabaari, an employee at courier company Marudhar Express Services Ltd, went there the next morning.
