AAI to build Vijayawada airport terminal

Vijayawada: As the passenger traffic is increasing for the past one year at the Gannavaram airport the revenue department is preparing to acquire 491 acres of land in three villages for the construction of a new terminal and expanding the runway.
Now, the airport is located in 531 acres of land. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) is asking for another 500 acres land for the construction of a new terminal with international standards, expanding the runway and providing more amenities to the passengers. The revenue department sent the proposals to the government for its approval.
The department decided to acquire 243 acres of land in Buddhavaram, 133 acres in Kesarapalli and 115 acres in Ajjampudi village. The government decided to offer ` 22 lakh per acre in Kesarapalli village, Rs.15 lakh in Buddhavaram and Rs.12 lakh in Ajjampudi villagers.
