Air India crew continues strike, flights from Delhi hit

Mumbai: Air India flight attendants continued their protest on Tuesday, with as many as 231 who were rostered for flights refusing to go for duty. Four international flights, all from Delhi, were delayed by an average of two to three hours as the airline had to look out for replacements in order to meet the minimum cabin crew requirement for these flights.
Among the delayed flights were those to Paris, Chicago, Newark and Riyadh. "The finance ministry called top Air India management officials for an explanation as the government has been helping the airline with funds," said a source. For the second consecutive day, the Air India spokesperson was not available for comment.
The flight attendants are protesting non-payment of salaries and sustenance allowance since August. Sustenance allowance is paid in foreign exchange, depending on seniority of the cabin crew member.
