Airport authority to develop Birsi

Gondia: Birsi Airport Authority will develop a sophisticated township surrounding the airport as its social commitment. It will also ensure security and safety of the airport which would be one of the important air bases of the country, said Manoj Gangal, director.
Talking to TOI on Thursday, Gangal said that exploitation of security guards by their employers and giving employment to the youths whose land was acquired for the project were the two major complaints the management of Birsi Airport was facing. Gangal said that the matter of under-payment to guards was settled as soon as he received complaints and asked their employers to pay by cheque.
He said that giving job to one youth per family was mandatory on the part of the airport authority. But the ministry of civil aviation says that there should be maximum involvement of educated youths from the periphery which would ensure security and safety to the airport. However, the problem is that there is no sufficient number of youth with requisite qualification who could be accommodated in airport services, Gangal said.
