Hyderabad airport feels heat of strike

Hyderabad/New Delhi: About 50 AI pilots, who had reported for duty on Saturday, had said that they were under stress due to the financial problems they were facing and were therefore unable to undertake flight duties. The ICPA had appealed to the agitators to return to work.
Meanwhile the repercussions of the pilots refusing to fly in New Delhi were felt at Hyderabad too.
The situation was chaotic at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, especially in the evening hours, as AI officials struggled to accommodate passengers of the two Delhi-bound flights that had been cancelled during the day in their AI 127 flight scheduled to depart for Delhi at 9:50 pm.
AI 544 bound for Vijayawada was also cancelled.
SMS alerts were sent earlier in the day to passengers informing them about the cancellations of AI 541 scheduled for departure to Delhi at 4.15 pm and AI 840 to Delhi at 7.10 pm, stating that the flights would be clubbed with AI 127. However, some passengers objected about the same and were accommodated on flights of Jet Airways etc. to Delhi.
