IT expert arrested for offering ‘discounted’ air tickets

New Delhi A 24-year old IT engineer was arrested recently for allegedly fleecing people of their money on the pretext of providing them with discounted air-tickets, police said.
An investigating officer said even a month after his arrest, complaints against Prakash Kumar kept pouring from across Delhi.
According to police, Kumar, who claimed to have worked for a top IT firm, used to pose as an employee of a reputed airline and offer discounted tickets and the membership of the airline.
After taking cheques of nominal amounts from people as ‘membership fee’, he would alter the figure and encash larger sums, police said.
“Kumar was arrested on December 21. Though we are investigating cases of our district, we have come to know about several other such crimes that he had committed in other areas. We have informed everyone in Delhi and NCR about this arrest and further investigation is on,” said Additional Commissioner of Police (Central), D C Srivastava.
