Bangalore: A 50-year-old man detained at HAL Airport on December 31 does not have terrorist links, police said.
But they are still questioning him on why he entered the premises wearing an army uniform and carrying a fake ID card and related documents.
“We did not get any vital information about his activities. Hence, we are interrogating him to find out why he entered the airport premises,” said deputy commissioner of police (south-east division), PS Harsha.
Investigations revealed that the man, Samir Shamsher Rana, is a resident of Mumbai and native of Kolkata.
A former armyman, he was court marshalled for misappropriation of Rs2 lakh while in service.
After serving two years in jail, he was released. He then moved to Mumbai and settled there.
