No action by Rajasthan government against errant catering firm

There appears to be an attempt to cover up the serious lapse at the recent Pravasi Bharatiya conference in Jaipur, when Prime Ministers Manmohan Singh and Kamla Persad-Bissessar of Trinidad and Tobago were served food by an unlicenced catering firm.
The Rajasthan government has taken action only against some minions, and not against the firm, Sky Feast.
It suspended food safety officer (FSO, earlier called food inspector) Shriram Mishra and transferred two other FSOs. The chief medical and health officer (CMHO) of Jaipur, Yatindra Singh, has been chargesheeted for 'negligence of duty'.
Sources said no action has been initiated against Sky Feast owner Gopal Singh, who has been in business illegally since 2008, or Air India, which gave the contract to the firm for supplying food for PM Singh and finance minister Pranab Mukherjee on January 8, and Bissessar on January 8 and 10.
The lapse was first highlighted by MAIL TODAY after the Pravasi Bharatiya meet.
According to the CMHO, he wasn't present when the food tasting process was carried out. He said he had gone to the Sky Feast office with the two FSOs on January 8, when the food for the two PMs was to be 'tasted' by an officer of the central agency and random samples were to be collected for preserving for 72 hours, according to the procedure in the PM's protocol.
