New Delhi: Air India has sought a review of the Central Information Commission (CIC) decision asking it to disclose the list of business class passengers who travelled on its flight from Bangalore to Male in April 2010 wherein a larger plane was reportedly flown to accommodate family members of a Union Minister.
Citing its objection due to commercial interests, Air India said it follows the practice of not disclosing the travel particulars of its valued passengers which are personal to them and such information amounts to invasion of the privacy of an individual.
Rejecting the argument, the Central Information Commission had in December last year directed the national carrier to reveal the list of business class passengers on IC-965 and IC-966 on April 25 and April 28, 2010 on Bangalore-Male-Bangalore sector in "larger public interest".
Again approaching the Commission, Air India sought a review of its decision as the personal details of passengers are held in fiduciary capacity and disclosure would amount to invasion of privacy.
"In view of the severe competitive market, we request the Honourable Commission to review the decision on this particular point," Air India said. However, the Commission does not have powers under the RTI Act to review its orders.
