Air India flight lands sans luggage as authorities fail to load it

Bangalore: At least 70 passengers who flew from Mumbai to Bangalore on Air India flight AI-607 on Tuesday evening had a rude shock waiting for them on arrival at Bengaluru International Airport (BIA). When they went to the conveyor belt to collect their luggage, they were informed that their cargo was not loaded on the plane at all.
The flight had taken off from Mumbai at 6.15pm.
“After alighting from the aircraft at about 7.30pm, we went to the terminal to claim our luggage from the conveyer belt, but found that our luggage was missing. After waiting patiently for a few minutes, we inquired with the airport officials and found that the luggage which the passengers had checked in was not loaded into the aircraft,” said K Jayaprakash Rao, regional PRO, DRDO (South), a passenger. “I have kept many important documents and my house keys in my suitcase which I had checked in before boarding the flight. I am not sure when I will receive it. The airline staff were not helpful as they, too, were clueless about our luggage.”
Worse, when the passengers raised a hue and cry, “senior airlines officials asked us to fill a form and conveyed to us that our luggage would be delivered to our residences only tomorrow,” Rao said.
