GVK chairman G Krishna Reddy met chief minister DV Sadananda Gowda at the latter's official residence 'Krishna' on Saturday to discuss the runway closure plan. GVK vice-chairman GV Sanjay Reddy also joined the informal meeting.
Flight operations face disruptions as the Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL) has planned to partially close its facilities, including the runway, for about a month from March 11 to carry out maintenance work.
Sources said that during the discussion, GVK representatives said the BIAL would be conducting maintenance of its runway for operational excellence and safety. The maintenance work would be carried out in a phased manner and the partial closure of facilities would have minimal impact on flight operations, they added.
The closure has been planned between 10.30am and 5.30pm from March 11 to April 3.
Sources said GVK representatives told the chief minister that whether to close the runway or not during the work would soon be decided.
