Business class flier gets roach in food-plate

Mumbai: A Dadar resident travelling by business class on a Jet Airways flight on the afternoon of February 5 lost all her appetite when she saw a dead cockroach lying beneath the Brinjal served in 52-year-old Pramila Sawant’s plate.
“I was completely shocked and angry. To add insult to injury, I was denied a complaint book by the staff, who also forcibly took the plate away from me. They were pressing me to accept a fresh plate, which I refused. They even threatened me that they won’t land the plane, but I refused to budge. Subsequently, I took the food plate with me to the airport police,” said Sawant.
At the airport police station, the police dissuaded her from filing an FIR. “The officials politely asked me not to file an FIR. They appeared to be siding with the Jet staff. Eventually, they accepted the panchnama of the food plate. I was asked to come again after two days for filing an FIR since that was the time required to conduct a test at the food lab. But, the police are yet to get the report from the lab, and the FIR remains to be filed,” added Sawant.
