Fire near BIA Cargo Terminal

Bangalore: A fire broke out near the forest cover opposite the cargo terminal of the Bangalore International Airport (BIAL) in the early afternoon on Monday. A fire tender stationed in the BIAL premises was rushed to the spot at 2 pm and officials revealed the fire had been bellowing for almost an hour before the fire tender reached.
“The fire could have started because of a cigarette butt. We reached the spot and managed to reduce the harm,” said a source The fire spread for almost 16 acres of the forest cover and the biggest fear was that it should not spread as the place where the fire started was merely 1 km away from ATC and 500 meters away from terminal.
