Mangalore Airport to Get Canine Squad for Bomb Detection

Mangalore: Bureau of Civil Aviation Security of the central government has issued instructions to maximize security at the local airport. In tune with the bureau’s recommendations, the Airports Authority of India has drawn up a plan to beef up security at Mangalore airport. This plan is expected to cost around Rs 80 lac.
A separate squad of canines for the purpose of bomb detection is also slated to be stationed at the airport. Tender process for construction of a canine kennel at a cost of Rs 40 lac has been set into motion. This kennel will come up next to the barracks of the personnel of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), which has been entrusted with the task of security at the airport. This kennel will have facility for breeding four canines for bomb detection, and also for providing them proper training for the task.
The airport also has plans to build a store to safekeep different arms and ammunition for the security of the airport.
