Spice, Jet Airways to operate from Mysore

Mysore: Two private airlines – Spice Jet and Jet Airways – have agreed to link this heritage city with key destinations like Chennai, Kochi, Hyderabad and Goa. Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda chaired a meeting with representatives of private airlines, officers of Airport Authority of India, chief secretary S V Ranganath, and district in-charge minister S.A. Ramadas in this regard on Monday. The meeting discussed all issues concerning resumption of flight operations from the local airport.
Mr. Ramadas told Deccan Chronicle representatives of private airlines were asked to submit a detailed proposal to the government likely flight operations, schedule and other details. “We are hoping to include Mysore in the summer flight schedule, which starts from mid-March. Three flights will be operated with morning departure and night landing. The AAI has already given its consent for night parking in Mysore airport. The flights will connect major cities directly or operate via Bengaluru. The proposal is likely to be submitted within a week and we will meet again to finalize the things,” he added. Mr. Ajith Madhavan, sales manager, Karnataka (Trade), Spice Jet and Mr. U.H Shenoy, General Manager, Karnataka & A.P, Jet Airways attended the meeting while representatives of and Kingfisher Airlines gave it a miss.
