Surat: SpiceJet is set to add more spice to politics in Surat. As high-flyers wait anxiously for SpiceJet's first flight to arrive at Magdalla airport from Delhi on Wednesday morning, politics in the city has got a new dimension.
While SpiceJet authorities have asked Tushar Chaudhary, a local Congress MP and Union minister of state for highways, to flag off the inaugural flight from Surat to Mumbai at the airport on Wednesday morning, senior BJP leaders including Navsari MP CR Patil and Surat MP Darshana Jardosh are doing everything to take credit of the issue of better air connectivity for Surat.
Patil and Jardosh, who are camping in Delhi, have booked 30 tickets for their supporters on the inaugural flight from Delhi to Surat in advance. The duo will arrive at Surat airport along with their supporters onboard.
"The flight service by SpiceJet has come due to our agitation last year. It is the victory of general public of the city and not of any political party," said Darshana.
