Airbus Forecasts India Plane Demand Until 2030 at 1,043

Hyderabad: European plane maker Airbus Thursday forecast demand in India for 1,043 aircraft valued at $145 billion until 2030.
It said that demand is expected to be for 1,020 commercial planes and 23 cargo aircraft. Of the commercial aircraft, 860 planes will be new additions to the country's fleet while 160 would be replacement for ageing aircraft.
The country has an existing fleet of 327 commercial planes.
Airbus' projections at the Hyderabad air show are a highly optimistic one given the backdrop of the country's beleaguered aviation sector where several airlines are fighting for survival, battered by severe fund crunch and high costs of fuel and taxes.
