Bangalore airport wins Green Company certification

Bangalore: The Bangalore International Airport (BIA) has become the country’s first firm to receive ‘Green Company’ distinction from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). The company on Thursday announced that it has received the certification from the Green Building Council (GBC) of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) as a Green Company in adherence to its GreenCo Rating System.
The rating system assesses and analyses the environmental impact of the company’s entire activities or operations. This rating helps in defining the path forward to ecologically sustainable business growth.
The certification programme was launched by the Union Minister for Energy in February last year. Making the announcement, S Raghupathy, executive director, CII-Godrej GBC said, “Bengaluru International Airport Limited (BIAL) has demonstrated passion and commitment towards fostering and promoting ecological sustainability in Indian industry. We are confident that in the days to come, many more companies will tread the same green path and pave way for a safe and sustainable tomorrow and demonstrate that green makes good business sense.”
