Chhabria to refurbish business jets

Hyderabad: Taking customisation to the next level, Air Works India Engineering, a maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services provider, has roped in auto designer Dilip Chhabria to refurbish interiors in business jets to suit individual preferences.
The company unveiled its first indigenously designed and built prototype at the India Aviation 2012 here on Wednesday. Currently, Air Works offers MRO services to over 100 business jets in India and the company is gearing up to showcase and attract at least the top 50 business houses as potential customers to customise interiors.
“There is a large market for aircraft interiors in India with a market spend of around $150-200 million. But as there are no local interior providers currently in India, all jets have to go abroad for design and fitments. We hope this will change with our foray,” said Vivek Gour, managing director of Air Works, adding, “We can also cater to refurbishment needs of bigger aircraft if required."
