Drug haul: Two including AI employee held at Imphal airport

Imphal: Two people, including an Air India loader, have been arrested from Imphal airport for allegedly trying to transport banned 'party drugs' worth Rs 28 lakh in the baggage of an air passenger. The duo were arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officials after they were tipped off by the CISF, which guards the airport. The loader, according to CISF, has been identified as Mohammed Akbar Ali while the passenger in whose baggage the 'party drug' (Metamphhetamine) was being allegedly transported has been identified as Khan Ayub of Imphal (east) district. According to the CISF, the incident occurred on March 20 when a CISF marshal noticed suspicious activity where the loader was trying to sneak in a "bag wrapped in paper" in the passengers baggage after it had cleared the mandatory security check. "The security personnel immediately apprehended the passenger and Air India employee.
