India-bound aircraft force-lands after snag

Ras Al Khaimah: An aircraft affiliated to Ras Al Khaimah Airways force-landed five minutes after midnight on Friday at RAK International Airport 40 minutes after takeoff. The plane that was heading to Calicut, India, had developed a malfunction in one of its engines. It was carrying 141 people — 133 Indian passengers and a crew of 8 — official sources revealed.
Major General Sheikh Talib Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Chief of the Ras Al Khaimah Police, was at the airport in the late hours to follow up on the incident directly and supervise the safe landing of the plane and to ensure the safety of the passengers and the crew.
Sources at Civil Defence in Ras Al Khaimah and the GHQ of RAK Police said that the operations room received a tip-off at 11:45 pm reporting the forced landing of a plane at RAK International Airport, which took off a short time ago.
