Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum has directed Jet Airways to pay Rs 20,000 to a city resident as compensation for the harassment caused to him due to delay in the delivery of his baggage after the flight.
The complaint was filed against the airline by Gurbir Singh, a resident of Sector 15. Singh told the forum that he flew by Jet Airways from New Delhi to Beijing in June 2011 to attend an international conference. When he arrived at the airport in Beijing, his baggage could not be located. As a result, he neither had the formal clothes to be worn at the conference nor the relevant papers brought for the purpose.
Singh said that his baggage was delivered to him after three days. On coming back, he filed a case in the forum, stating that he was entitled to compensation for the harassment caused to him, besides costs of litigation.
