Kingfisher wasn't a birthday gift claims Sidhartha

I'm 24. I'm not qualified to run a business. I am not going to be taking over any business where I can't add value,' quipped director of Royal Challengers, Bangalore, Sidhartha Mallya when asked why he was not taking over as the CEO of the Kingfisher Airlines and put it on the path to prosperity.
Opening the rapid fire session at the eleventh India Today Conclave in the Capital on Saturday, Sidhartha said: 'No matter what you do, you have to make it your own.'
Mallya, who was at his candid best as he presented his views on whether to 'Inherit or Build Anew' said that there was no point in inheriting a business 'if you are not going to build on it and let it stagnate'.
About how he felt that the Kingfisher Airlines, which was supposed to be his birthday gift, was in the red, Sidhartha clarified, 'KFA wanted to launch in May 2005. It was coincidental that it happened to be on my birthday. It was not a birthday gift'.
