Mangalore: The Mangalore airport has become the first airport in South India to be certified on occupational health and safety management system (OHSMS) 18001-2007.
It also scored a double by becoming the only airport holding three different international ratings.
The airport was earlier certified with ISO 9001 for quality management system and ISO 14001 for environment management system.
“All the three certifications will be valid till March 10, 2015,” said airport director MR Vasudeva.
The OHSMS 14001 has been awarded the joint accreditation by Board of Australia and New Zealand.
The panel visited the airport on February 2. The airport was upgraded in 2006 to international standards.
On services from Mangalore to different destinations across the world, AAI authorities said that, currently, the Kingfisher, Jet Airways, Air India Express and Air India Regional are operating international routes like Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Doha, Kuwait, Dubai and Muscat.
