The Punjab Police has arrested a man at New Delhi airport as soon as he landed from Portugal in connection with the infamous Moga fake passport scam that surfaced in 2008.
The special investigation team of the Moga Police nabbed Balkar Singh, a resident of Punjab's Nawanshahr, after he landed at the airport on Thursady for allegedly procuring a passport on fake documents, police said here.
According to police, Singh had allegedly gone to Saudi Arabia from where he proceeded to Denmark in 2005. When his passport expired, he allegedly managed to get his passport on a fake address of Baghapurana in this district in 2005 through a travel agent here.
He was produced before a Court here yesterday and sent to two-days police remand.
In the last four years, as many as 80 persons have been detained by the SIC in the scam, and several others remain under scanner.
