New Delhi: Crisis-ridden Kingfisher faced a huge blow on Friday with a majority of travel agents being disallowed by International Air Transport Association (IATA) to sell the airline's tickets or book cargo on it due to non-payment of dues. This setback came as IATA suspended the airline from two more platforms - billing and settlement plan (BSP) and cargo accounts settlement system (CASS) - days after removing Kingfisher from its clearing house payment system.
"The suspension was because the airline did not provide IATA with a cash deposit required to continue its participation in the BSP and the CASS," an IATA statement said.
Kingfisher spokesman Prakash Mirpuri said the airline has made alternative arrangements with "select leading travel agents" for continued sale of tickets. "In addition, they can continue to book tickets either on our website or from any Kingfisher ticketing office... and our call centres," he said.
