Vishakhapatnam: The stage is set for putting the Visakhapatnam airport on the international aviation map with the scheduled launch of the Visakhapatnam – Dubai (via Hyderabad) Air India flight on March 25.
The first AI flight (Dubai – Visakhapatnam) will leave Dubai at 00.55 hrs (local time) and reach Visakhapatnam at 8 a.m. via Hyderabad and leave for Dubai at 6.20 p.m. for Dubai (via Hyderabad) and reach its destination at 10.25 p.m. (local time).
“There are 2.5 lakh Telugus residing in Dubai of whom 30 per cent are from Visakhapatnam region,” according to Sarat, who represents the Sharjah-based All Andhra Association of United Arab Emirates.
“April being the holiday season, there will be a huge demand for direct flights from Visakhapatnam to Dubai and back. The direct flight will be advantageous to all sections of people living in the UAE, as Air India is also planning to provide transportation to other cities,” Mr. Sarat said at a meeting organised in Visakhapatnam recently.
