Air India to clear employee dues by may 30

New Delhi: Air India management’s written assurance to its employees that all their dues would be cleared between March 30 and May 30 averted the staff agitation which was to begin on Monday. Experts say the strike could have had disastrous consequences not only on the airline but also on the civil aviation sector in the country.
Due to non-payment of salaries, pilots and employees were to go on ‘no work, no pay’ agitation from Monday, but assurances from the management prevented the employees from going ahead with their plans.
The management in two different letters to its employees said their dues for past six months would be cleared latest by May 30 adding that if the assured infusion of Rs 4,000 crore as provisioned in the Union Budget 2012 is received on time, dues of the employees could be cleared very soon in a week’s time.
