Guwahati: The ministry of civil aviation is inviting comments from stakeholders on the proposed Rs 100-crore essential air services fund to boost air connectivity in places like the Northeast. Two committees last year had recommended the establishment of the fund to provide subsidies to airlines operating on economically unviable routes.
A source said the ministry is now inviting comments on various issues related to the proposed fund. It wants to know whether funds under the scheme can be utilised for subsidising, partly or fully, air travel operations to certain areas.
