Thiruvananthapuram: With the onset of school va-cations and the suspension of the Bahrain Air services in the Thiruvananthapuram-Bahrain sector, flight charges from the city to the Gulf sector are shooting up.
Travel agents allege that the suspension of permission to Bahrain Air was part of a high-level conspiracy to stall the development of the Thiruvana-nthapuram airport.
Kerala association of travel agents president K.V. Muraleedharan, said that all airlines, including the nati-onal carrier, Air India, jac-ked up fares by 30 to 50 per cent to take undue advantage of the rush during school vacations.
However, Bahrain Air, which recently started ope-rations in the sector, was offering a competitive rate in the sector.
