Nedumbassery: The 110 KV hybrid substation constructed by the Cochin International Airport Ltd (Cial) in front of the approach road to the domestic terminal is set for commissioning. This is the first substation in the state constructed using hybrid technology. Built at a cost of around Rs 22 crore, the substation will cater to the power requirements of Cial and allied organizations for the next 15 to 20 years. According to V Sankar, public relations manager, the hybrid technology employed for the substation is a combination of conventional substation and gas insulated substation.'The substation strikes a balance between cost of land and the construction cost of the facility.
