Kingfisher Airlines's market share lowest in country

New Delhi: It's official now. Crisis-ridden Kingfisher has become India's smallest scheduled airline in terms of market share after cutting flights and reducing fleet constantly since last November. Before hitting the bad times, Vijay Mallya's airline had touched dizzying heights early last year, when it became an airline with the single-largest market share for a brief period, as against Jet Airways' number one slot, which Naresh Goyal's group enjoys when clubbed with its budget arm JetLite.
According to latest DGCA figures, Kingfisher had a 6.4% market share in March, while Wadia Group's GoAir - which was so far the smallest scheduled carrier - was ahead at 7.5%. Even JetLite forged ahead at 7.3%. The Jet-JetLite combine remains the market leader with a share of 29.2% in the domestic airspace.
