A Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) report has earmarked Rs 275 crore for Pawan Hans Helicopter Limited (PHHL) to develop a heliport at Hadapsar. The allocation in the report of the Working Group on Civil Aviation for the 12th Plan comes in the backdrop of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) ignoring demands like gliders, winches and ropes made consistently by the Gliding Centre Pune (GCP) at the site where the heliport is to come up. Moreover, GCP is not named in the report as such and finds mention only as Hadapsar, Pune.
As per the report, Rs 20 crore per annum will be provided to PHHL in the next five years to develop a heliport, Maintenance Repair and Operations (MRO) centre, training centre, AME school and pilot school. An additional Rs 10 crore per annum will go towards ‘providing training helicopters’. Rs 12 crore per year is for simulators and training aids and Rs 7 crore is for flight monitoring, technology update. Rs 6 crore per year has been allocated for ‘aerosports like gliders’ though the gliding activity currently practised at GCP have found no mention in the report.
