Travel Club wants AI to operate international flights

Madurai: Travel Club, Madurai, has urged the civil aviation ministry to operate Air India flights from Madurai to foreign destinations. Accompanied by former Congress MP A.G.S. Rambabu, a delegation comprising its president B.S.G. Musthafa and past presidents Dr. G. Vasudevan and N. Sriram called on civil aviation minister Ajit Singh in New Delhi and submitted a memorandum also signed by 12 MPs of south Tamil Nadu in this regard. The memorandum pointed out that people in the region were disappointed as Madurai despite being declared as customs airport a year ago was left out in the recent summer schedule announced by Air India wherein it had included direct international operation from Dubai to Vishakapatnam via Hyderabad and vice-versa.
