Mumbai: The city’s airport was all geared to collect the much-talked about airport development fee (ADF) from May 1, but passengers departing from Mumbai airport were in for a surprise when the staff did not collect a single rupee from them.
Thanks to May 1 (Maharashtra Din) and a circular issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) that asked all airlines to collect ADF at the time of issuing tickets instead of collecting it later.
The airport has been permitted to collect an ADF of Rs 100 from domestic passengers and Rs 600 from international passengers till March 2014. The same fee is passed down to the Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) by the airlines.
