Kingfisher Airlines to pay 46000 for cancelling flight

Mumbai: A district forum recently ordered Kingfisher Airlines Ltd and a ticketing agency to pay Rs 46,000 for causing mental agony and financial loss to a Thane resident and his family after it cancelled their Nagpur-Mumbai flight without intimating them.
The airline and Riya Travels & Tours (Indian) Pvt Ltd will have to refund Vishwas Pathak Rs 24,165 that he spent on booking an alternative flight. This will attract an interest of 9% pa (Rs 9,000) from November 2007, the date of the incident, till the realization of the amount. Pathak will also get Rs 10,000 as compensation for the mental agony caused and Rs 3,000 as costs of the complaint.
In September 2007, Pathak booked return air tickets to Nagpur as he planned to spend Diwali there with his family. He had to return to Mumbai for a meeting scheduled at 11am on November 11, 2007, and his son had to report to school the next day.
