Mayawati's Greater Noida airport dream up in smoke

Lucknow: It is now requiem for Mayawati's much-hyped initiative to set up an international airport in Javer, near Greater Noida as the Samajwadi Party Government shelved the scheme and instead decided to send a proposal to the Centre for an international airport between Agra and Mathura. The Department of Industrial Development has been given the onus to search proper land in Agra. A senior official in Department of Industries said that the State Government had started searching land for an international airport between Agra and Mathura, both cities that attract considerable tourist influx.
"The project will be prepared and sent to the Centre for necessary approval only after the land is identified and acquired," the sources said.
