‘Private airlines fleecing people’

New Delhi: The strike by Air India pilots came up in a big way for discussion in the Parliament, as the Lok Sabha witnessed a short duration discussion on the issue and in the Rajya Sabha BJP MP Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi raised the matter during Zero Hour. The Opposition accused the government of committing a series of blunders, including the merger, and asked for urgent remedial steps. In the Lower House, discussion took place under the title “Bring Comprehensive Policy Changes in Civil Aviation Cector”. In the Upper House Mr Naqvi voiced concern over the Air India strike and said private airlines were taking undue advantage by substantially hiking the fares, thereby fleecing passengers.
