Nagpur: The top management of the city-based Abhijeet Group had a lucky escape when a bird hit the group's private jet when it was taking off for Mumbai. The incident happened around 9am at the Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar international airport.
The pilot Capt Steel Upton heard a thud sound and immediately alerted the air traffic control (ATC). He requested the ATC to check the runway. Airport officials identified the bird as an eagle. It was found on the runway and cleared.
As there was no unusual noise, vibration or any other signs of alert, the pilot decided to continue with the flight as the officials, including managing director Abhishek Jayaswal were travelling towards Mumbai to attend a board meeting.
